"We can have the time-wasting debate as to whether or not we have reached peak oil, or if all the science on global warming is in, but the simple reality is that when it comes to the oil beneath our feet, all the easy stuff is gone. Each additional barrel of oil pumped out of the ground will cost us more than the last, economically and environmentally.
Continuing the stubborn practice of building our civilization on a dirty energy resource that will likely run out in this century is unsustainable. It's insane."
