Bush Economy: Wealth Rules, Workforce Drools

HP to Slash 14,500 Jobs - Yahoo! News

"Striving for Dell Inc.'s efficiency and IBM Corp.'s breadth, Hewlett-Packard Co. said Tuesday it will cut 14,500 jobs and overhaul its retirement plan in a move that all but buries the legendary company-employee bond known as the 'HP Way.'

The computer and printer maker once known for treating employees like family said it will save $1.9 billion a year as it trims its global work force of 151,000 by 10 percent over the next 18 months."

One of the terrible legacies of the Bush administration will be the crushing defeat of the Working Class. Entire industries, such as manufacturing and information technology, have been permanently damaged by Bush's further concentration of wealth and coddling of China.

I can't imagine how history will judge Bush, despite a decades-long restoration of his image by corporate media which will start the day he leaves office, just as they did with Reagan.

But really, how do you fix these facts? Dumbest president ever, optional war based on lies, biggest transfer of wealth from poor and middle class to the wealthy since the robber baron era, biggest rollback of environmental and civil rights law since LBJ, etc.

Christianists and neocons love Bush, because he reminds them of the bad ol' Reagan days. And they certainly have a lot in common, not the least of which will be similarly corrupt and unethical administrations that damaged national security.
