I can't believe what I'm reading. Bob Dole has jumped on the "trash another vet at all costs because his politics are different than mine" bandwagon.
What an asshole.
I guess ol' Dull is still smarting from the last Democrat who beat his ass fair and square in a presidential election.
"I respect his record. But three Purple Hearts and he never bled, that I know of. I mean, they're all superficial wounds. Three Purple Hearts and you're out," said Dole who himself was badly wounded in World War II.
"Maybe he should apologize to the other 2.5 million veterans who served," said Dole. "He wasn't the only one who was in Vietnam."
Kerry still carries shrapnel in his thigh from one of his wounds in Vietnam.
Every time a Democrat looks capable of beating the neocons, he’s been tarred with the "draft-dodger" brush; but not a word was said when Bush/Cheney came along. Hell, Bush was AWOL and they don't care.
But a proven 'Nam war hero with records to prove it comes along, and the right trashes him, too.
People, OPEN YOUR EYES.
If this doesn't prove to you the right are a bunch of mouth-breathing, dimwitted, knuckle dragging thugs; nothing will.
The neocons long ago held up military service as the gold standard for office, despite plenty of idiot former military presidents and countless non-military presidents with brilliant presidencies.
You built the myth, now live with it. If Clinton was trashing McCain in a presidential race like this, the Limbaugh would be choking on his own froth with livid anger.
Imagine it: Dole can say a little shrapnel doesn't count. Hell, McCain wasn't taking any enemy fire at the Hanoi Hilton. Oh, but he all smashed up from the crash landing? Well, I heard he ditched on purpose to avoid getting killed in a real crash.
That's fucking absurd, and so are the Republican goose-steppers playing this game.
