Minimal Precautions Taken for Dubai Ports Sale

"The revelations about the negotiated conditions came as the White House acknowledged
President Bush was unaware of the pending sale until the deal had already been approved by his administration."

It doesn't surprise me that Chimpy was out of the loop; while this administration lies about damn near everything, this concerns Big Money. I can imagine Dick looking stone-faced at the question, "Should we tell Bush?" then slowly shaking his head no.
"The administration did not require Dubai Ports to keep copies of business records on U.S. soil, where they would be subject to court orders. It also did not require the company to designate an American citizen to accommodate U.S. government requests. Outside legal experts said such obligations are routinely attached to U.S. approvals of foreign sales in other industries."

Of course the "stringent requirements" the Cheney administration claims exist, do not. This is a deal between corrupt, wealthy old white men and likely corrupt, definitely wealthy old Middle Eastern men.

Snow was looking at a bundle, and who knows how many other Bushies palms were greased. This deal had zero chance of heavy scrutiny from the thecons. Only the corporate media and suddenly cojones-packing Dems brought this mess under scrutiny.

Of course, it's with copious irony that an administration that has spread hate and fear throughout the U.S., stirring up frenzied good ol' boys into calling for "death to the ragheads," now finds itself taking birdshot from all sides. All that work blaming Arabs and Muslims; and by Gawd, we cry foul when they sell out to UAE.
