So That's How Two Party Government Dies

Democrats don't get support for Alito filibuster: SF Chronicle
"Senate Democrats led by the party's former presidential nominee John Kerry failed as expected Monday to block Judge Samuel Alito's nomination to the Supreme Court, exposing deep divisions within their party and prompting warnings from Republicans that the maneuver would come back to haunt a Democratic president."

I'm ashamed of the Dems today, but I can't say this was a surprising development. Too many Dem Congressmen and women have inherited the conservatives' worst quality: pissing themselves in fear. For the Regressives, they squat and cower in fear from the terrorists. Democrats fear attack ads.

The priceless words in this article? "prompting warnings from Republicans that the maneuver would come back to haunt a Democratic president."

If a Democratic president ever gets elected again in this one-party, electronic-voting system; I guarantee you this tactic would be used against him or her if they dared to put a lefty on the court. Dozens of Clinton judicial nominations never got so much as damn hearing, let alone a vote.

The Republicans didn't fight Clinton on SCOTUS nominations because [a] Clinton was never a pure liberal and was never going to appoint a hard left judge, and [b] Ginsburg's freakin' name came from Orrin Hatch!

The left equilavent of Alito would have to be a pot-smoking, brick walled protection between church and state, pro-choice jurist -- and you tell me if the theocons would filibuster such a nominee.
