Apparently, Microsoft and others think we'd all just love to pay a subscription fee for our music and stop owning (digital copies of) songs.

What focus group from Hell is approving this direction? You could get nearly the same functionality, sans explicit choice of songs, from satellite radio. I don't get it.
I'll stick with my iPod, thank you. I'll give them this: I don't shop at iTunes, but that's due to my fondness for physical CDs. Subscription? They're nuts.
